ABOUT ME:
Hi, I'm Tasha, I have a busy family life (like everyone). Working out was always a chore, I would get it out of the way first thing in the morning. My "work out" had been speed walking uphill on the treadmill (which I hated) for 45 minutes every morning, the longest 45 minutes of my life. I would try to read or watch t.v. or whatever I could think of to make the time go by.
I took my first Zumba class back in July of 2008 and instantly fell in love with it! The Zumba class flew by...before I knew it, the class was over and I was covered in sweat! I love the variation of music and got so involved I didn't even realize I was exercising. I was just dancing. Zumba is, Latin dance steps, infused with fitness moves, so you are burning anywhere from 500-1,000 calories in an hour.
After the company that I worked for went out of business, I decided to get my Zumba certification in October of 2009, I taught my first class in December. I started out subbing for other instructors, then started my own classes downtown in March of 2010. I also taught at a couple of gyms. After almost a year downtown, I decided to teach a little closer to where I live in Elk Grove. Although I miss my downtown people, the gas driving there was getting too much. March of 2011, I started classes at 916 Dance studio,in June I started at ATA Martial Arts. I love the mats in the martial arts studio, it allows students to take their shoes off, it they don't have proper shoes, yet keep them on and dance comfortably if they do. The classes are only $5.00 per class and there is no membership or commitment, just come when you are ready to have fun and get in shape.
I teach using a microphone, so I verbally cue as well as visually cue. What that means is I will tell you what is coming and count down the steps, as well as use hand gestures to show direction and such.
I am CPR and first aid certified (but never want to use it), so please listen to you body and go at your own pace. I show low impact and high impact, stay where you are comfortable. I am also certified by AFAA, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I have all walks of life in my classes, feel free to bring the kids (as long as they are well behaved) there are bleachers for them to sit in or, if they want to join in, that's fine too (as long as they don't get in the way of other students).
That's about it for me, I hope to meet you in a class very soon. check out my schedule page for a time and day that works for you.
